Siemens Gas and Power is partnering with ASME to develop AM training services
On Day 2 of Formnext 2019, Siemens Gas and Power and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) announced their collaboration on the development of training services for AM, which will be offered through Materials Solutions, a Siemens business, as an extension of its AM service portfolio.
TÜV SÜD and ASTM International have announced a new AM partnership
Today, global standards organisation ASTM International and TÜV SÜD, a German testing and certification organisation, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop programmes aimed at speeding the adoption of and trust in Additive Manufacturing technologies. This strategic partnership supports knowledge sharing and the growing use of Additive Manufacturing technologies across many industry sectors.
AddUp and Decayeux STI present luxury applications demonstrator ‘La Mallette’
With ‘La Mallette’, AddUp and Decayeux STI are highlighting the applications of metal Additive Manufacturing for the serial production of luxury products with the ‘La Mallette’ set of demonstrator products viewable on AddUp’s stand. The showcase aims to allow potential end-users to visualise new products and consider the adoption of metal AM on an industrial scale.

Record-breaking Bugatti Chiron with additively manufactured exhaust components
APWORKS GmbH has revealed that the recent record-breaking Bugatti Chiron was equipped with additively manufactured titanium exhaust finishers. The car is the first hyper sports car to break the 300 mph barrier (483 km/h), a world record that was set at the beginning of August in Germany.
6K debuts Onyx In718 metal powder for Additive Manufacturing
6K, a developer of microwave plasma technology for the production of advanced materials used in Additive Manufacturing, has announced the debut of its new Onyx In718 premium powder for Additive Manufacturing. The company is exhibiting Onyx In718 and more than fifteen other metal alloys, ceramic powders and parts.
Oerlikon AM announces Siemens partnership
Oerlikon AM, the Additive Manufacturing unit of technology group Oerlikon, and Siemens AG, have announced a strategic agreement in which Siemens will provide Oerlikon AM with digital enterprise solutions that will help Oerlikon accelerate the industrialization of Additive Manufacturing.

Simufact announces DED-specific simulation solution
In addition to the below release, Simufact Additive today announced the development of a dedicated simulation solution for Directed Energy Deposition (DED) metal AM. Offered as a module inside its Simufact Welding 2020 software, it enables the user to quickly set up DED simulation models by importing existing tool paths from G-Code, instead of manually defining weld paths.
The tool is suitable for use in 3D Laser Cladding, Wire Arc AM (WAAM), Direct Metal Deposition (DMD) and Laser Metal Deposition (LMD).
Simufact Additive 2020 launched
Simufact today launched Simufact Additive 2020, a solution for the optimisation of metal AM processes which expands the scope of manufacturing simulation, providing cost estimation of build processes and improves interoperability with Materialise build preparation software and Renishaw AM machines. It is said to provide higher performance and robustness.

Link3D offers fully-integrated AM workflows with Autodesk
With the new integrated workflow, Link3D Additive MES connects bi-directionally into Autodesk® Fusion 360® and Autodesk Netfabb® and can be used in the downstream production process to manually alter and control the data preparation at all stages. SPEE3D to launch new SPEE3Dcell
The SPEE3Dcell combines a SPEE3D machine with a heat treatment furnace and a three-axis CNC milling machine. For the duration of Formnext, it will be demonstrated live, as it builds sparkless copper hammers at six minutes per hammer, finishes and assembles them on the trade show floor, showcasing its speed, affordability and scalability. EOS will demonstrate its Shared Modules solution for AM
The company states that the various modules plus transport systems and control centre software enable users to implement equipping, unpacking, transporting and sieving activities in parallel with the AM build process on the EOS M 400 seires. AMCM will exhibit a full-size Launcher E-2 combustion chamber mock-up
The copper alloy chamber was produced for Launcher, Inc. It is said to be the largest liquid rocket engine combustion chamber additively manufactured in a single part, measuring 86 cm tall with an exit nozzle diameter of 41 cm. Read the full story.

GFMS & 3D Systems will showcase their combined metal AM parts and solutions
To highlight the benefits of their jointly developed metal AM workflow, GF Machining Solutions and 3D Systems will showcase two metal additively manufactured parts; a spinal fusion cage for orthopaedic surgery and a lightweight bracket used in the aerospace industry for satellite technology. The awards given to the winners are said to be worth a total of €30,000. In addition to the first three places, a ‘special mention’ and an ‘innovation prize’ will also be given.
