Wayland Additive, based in Huddersfield, UK, has shared the release of its Wayland Connect software to support the optimal running of its Calibur3 metal eBeam Additive Manufacturing (AM) machines. Customers can access the Wayland Connect software online for each Calibur3 machine, allowing full in-process monitoring of every build.

Access the online dashboard is through a secure licensing system, and allows for comprehensive in-process monitoring and configuration management of the machine. Over time, Wayland Connect collects and archives the data from each build, allowing the user to perform analysis reports on machine performance and build successes based on the machine’s configurations. This, in turn, facilitates machine learning capabilities that can optimise future builds and support pre-emptive maintenance.

A further option is via the Wayland Connect app, which is available via Apple and Android platforms. This offers a real-time machine-monitoring app for Calibur3 users. It provides remote access for users, allowing them to monitor their Calibur3 metal Additive Manufacturing machine(s) and receive real-time alerts for full assurance that live builds are on track. Furthermore, it allows them to configure push notifications for real-time alerts for any or all operational parameters that they want to observe and check. Offering immediate access to the progress of live builds, including all of the vital parameters, the app also facilitates access to live images of the build chamber.

Sohail Saddique, Senior Software Engineer at Wayland Additive, shared, “We have developed Wayland Connect to provide our Calibur3 customers with an advanced tool to monitor each and every one of their builds with an intuitive and easy-to-use interface whether they are accessing it via the dashboard or the app. Access to information on live builds provides assurance and peace-of-mind, especially if users are remote from the machine, for example overnight. The extensive in-process monitoring capabilities installed on the Calibur3 systems can be accessed easily and quickly with Wayland Connect to provide an up-to-the minute status report of the machine and the build in progress.”
