Titomic Limited, based in Brisbane, Australia, has announced the sale of a Titomic D623 cold spray Additive Manufacturing machine to United Industrial Solutions, a specialist in coatings and corrosion mitigation for the resource sector. This AUS $174,000 contract marks the first deployment of the D623 in Australia.

Focusing on Western Australia, United Industrial Solutions will chiefly use the D623 to perform service work for some of the world’s leading energy suppliers and key players in the marine industry. The D623’s primary application will be the deposition of corrosion-resistant coatings on critical oil and gas assets, thus extending the lifespan of the assets and improving their resilience in harsh marine environments.

This follows Titomic’s entry into the oil and gas sector through a partnership with Woodside Energy and Monadelphous Group in June. Woodside has since used Titomic’s D523 machine at its offshore gas platform in the Indian Ocean, reportedly the on-site application of cold spray Additive Manufacturing technology in the Australian oil & gas industry, providing a solution for corrosion prevention and repair in remote locations.

The D623 has a higher deposition rate and can deposit harder metals than previous Titomic cold spray Additive Manufacturing machines, while also increasing deposition rates. Other D623 machines have been sold to Airbus, EPCOR, University Rey Juan Carlos, and Neue Materialien Bayreuth.
