Meltio, Tecnológico de Monterrey, Alar and Sitres Latam partner to promote metal Additive Manufacturing in Mexico

Sitres Latam, Alar, and Tecnológico de Monterrey, all based in Mexico, have partnered to promote Meltio’s laser-wire Directed Energy Deposition (DED) Additive Manufacturing machines to companies in Mexico. Meltio’s AM technology makes it possible to create, transform and repair functional metal parts with materials such as stainless steel, titanium, Inconel and copper.

Both Alar and Tecnológico de Monterrey offer access to the technology for companies and institutions interested in developing functional parts.

Alar was reportedly the first Mexican company to integrate the Meltio M600 industrial AM machine, which was recognised as the ‘Enterprise 3D Printer of the Year (Metals)’ at the 3DPI Awards 2024. This machine operates autonomously 24/7 and allows the production of high-quality final parts with a wide range of metallic materials.

Tecnológico de Monterrey is actively participating with its Meltio M450 industrial metal AM machines. The university is strengthening its commitment to training in advanced manufacturing, giving its students the opportunity to work with industrial-level metal Additive Manufacturing tools.

Dr Ciro Ángel Rodríguez González, Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Advanced Materials and Leader of the Industrial Transformation Research Nucleus of the School of Engineering and Sciences of the Tecnológico de Monterrey System, shared, “In addition to strengthening academic training, we seek to achieve a direct impact on the productive ecosystem, since companies that require it will be able to collaborate with Tecnológico de Monterrey to take advantage of this innovative 3D metal printing technology to develop their own prototypes, explore industrial applications and train in the use of Additive Manufacturing technologies.”
