Farsoon increases laser power configurations in FS350M Additive Manufacturing machines
April 15, 2025

Farsoon Technologies, based in Changsha, China, has announced upgrades to its FS350M Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB) Additive Manufacturing machine series. The FS350M is now available with both 4 × 1000 W and 6 × 500 W options, both maintaining the original’s 6 m² footprint.
The 4 × 1000 W FS350M is designed to deliver enhanced processing capabilities for speciality alloys at improved production efficiency, making it well-suited for those developing new applications. The configuration can be made compatible with Farsoon Beam Shaping Technology, reportedly enabling up to 200% build efficiency compared to the earlier 4 × 500 W version.
The new 6 × 500 W configuration, developed in collaboration with industry partners, is intended to address the growing need for industrial-scale Additive Manufacturing. Its multiple lasers and optimised production workflow enable high throughput for the serial production of small-to-medium metal components. This version is intended for use in markets such as consumer electronics, medical devices, and automotive components.
Process developments
Every laser in the FS350M Series is said to achieve scanning speeds of up to 10 m/s. The latest recoating technology is intended for stable powder spreading at 400 mm/s, enabling the completion of a single layer in eight seconds. Adjusting layer thickness within a single build can further optimise efficiency based on application needs; Farsoon notes that fine-tuning recoating can increase productivity by 30 – 40%.
Dynamically adjusting overlap positions enables the workload to be balanced across layers, minimising downtime while increasing laser synchronicity.
Farsoon’s technology also enables each layer to be split into contour (with precision parameters) and infill zones (focusing on higher speeds), thus enabling high surface quality and fast throughput.
The FS350M architecture
The FS350M Series is designed to minimise operational expenses (particularly in inert gas consumption). Its optimised gas system reportedly achieves full chamber purging within eleven minutes and operates at an ultra-low flow inert consumption rate of 3 – 5 L/min during manufacturing.
All machines in the FS350M series also come equipped with an integrated permanent filtration system, enabling stable, long-duration manufacturing with minimal maintenance and enhanced safety.
The FS350M 4 × 1000 W configuration is now open for global pilot programmes; the FS350M 6 × 500 W version is available for early adopters in the AMEA region.
