EOS GmbH, headquartered in Krailling, Germany, has announced a Space Act Agreement with NASA and the EOS Additive Minds Academy to offer the Metal AM Master Class, an advanced hands-on training programme. The course will be led in collaboration with Dr Paul Gradl, Principal Engineer, NASA, and Dr Omar Mireles, Additive Manufacture R&D Engineer, Zia AM, both recognised experts in Additive Manufacturing for space flight and high-performance applications.

The training programme will take place at the EOS technical centre in Pflugerville, Texas, USA, from November 4-6, 2025. It will cover industrial metal Additive Manufacturing processes and post-processing techniques for successful part fabrication and infusion into applications. This course will serve as a technology-agnostic review of metal AM strategies, such as Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB), Directed Energy Deposition (DED), and other advanced methods.

Fabian Alefeld, EOS global director of business development and the Additive Minds Academy, shared, “This partnership embodies the power of public-private collaboration accelerating the adoption and understanding of Additive Manufacturing. Through our agreement with NASA, we are delivering unparalleled access to the expertise and technologies that are shaping the future of aerospace and advanced manufacturing.”

Designed for engineers, researchers, programme managers, industry leaders, and newcomers alike, the course includes:

  • Overview of solid-state AM processes and their process chains
  • Hands-on deep dives into the PBF-LB process chain, design, post-processing, and quality assurance
  • Theory and practical lessons learned sessions led by Dr Gradl and Dr Mireles
  • Hands-on experience with EOS M 290, EOS M 300-4, and EOS M 400-4 systems
  • Build job development, post-processing, and lab testing
  • EOS Additive Minds Certificate of Completion awarded to participants
