Gefertec to showcase new WAAM machines and industrial applications at Formnext 2026

Gefertec, Berlin, Germany, has announced that it will showcase large-scale metal components produced using Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) at Formnext, as part of the Berlin-Brandenburg joint stand (Hall 12.1, Stand B101). The company will also present its latest WAAM machines, including the recently introduced arc10X and arcTitan.
Components on display will include a 700 kg compressor impeller, a titanium aircraft emergency exit frame, a tooling mold and a seawater pump impeller being exhibited publicly for the first time. The pump impeller features elongated, wing-like blades designed to allow fish drawn into the pump to pass through safely. According to Gefertec, this geometry cannot be produced using conventional casting methods.

The components demonstrate potential applications for WAAM in the energy, aerospace and tooling sectors. Gefertec states that the process can reduce material consumption and production lead times while enabling the manufacture of complex geometries that are difficult to achieve through conventional casting or machining.

Gefertec has expanded its machine portfolio with two new machines. The modular arc10X is designed for integration into existing manufacturing environments, while the arcTitan has been developed specifically for titanium Additive Manufacturing. The latter combines a fully sealed inert-gas atmosphere with a plasma-based WAAM process to accommodate the reactive nature of titanium. Both machines join the established arc80X, which is designed for component volumes of up to 8 m³.
The company will also provide a preview of a containerised machine designed to enable mobile Additive Manufacturing at the point of use.

Sebastian Recke, Senior Key Account Manager at Gefertec GmbH, stated, “At Formnext, our primary goal is to show visitors what can actually be built using this technology, from massive structural parts to complex geometries and titanium components.”
The Berlin-Brandenburg joint stand brings together organisations involved in Additive Manufacturing research and development, software, hardware, materials and applications. Participants include the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM), the AMBER Network and the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Systems and Design Technology (IPK).
