VulcanForms and Specter Aerospace partner to scale hypersonic weapons production

VulcanForms, headquartered in Devens, Massachusetts, USA, and Specter Aerospace, Peabody, Massachusetts, USA, have announced a strategic partnership to scale the production of airbreathing hypersonic weapons. The companies state that the partnership will support the secure and economical manufacture and all-up-round (AUR) integration of low-cost hypersonic munitions, interceptors and cruise missiles for US national security requirements.
Specter Aerospace has previously employed VulcanForms’ Additive Manufacturing and high-volume manufacturing expertise in its hypersonic vehicle development. The companies now intend to transition this work towards full-rate production, combining Specter’s experience in hypersonic missile development with VulcanForms’ Additive Manufacturing and post-processing capabilities.

As part of the partnership, VulcanForms and Specter Aerospace are evaluating sites across the USA for a future dedicated production facility. In the meantime, the partnership is already leveraging the existing production facilities of both companies as they work towards a dedicated, long-term manufacturing operation.
“Specter has spent nearly a decade building airbreathing hypersonic missiles and targets in collaboration with the Department of War,” said Specter Aerospace CEO Felipe Gomez del Campo. “Today, in response to the urgency of delivering hypersonic munitions to the US Joint Force to deter our adversaries, Specter is partnering with VulcanForms to build America’s first dedicated hypersonic manufacturing capacity from the ground up to deliver affordable and lethal hypersonic weapons to fighter aircraft and joint operations.”

VulcanForms Executive Vice President Matthew Rose stated, “The Defense Industrial Base 2.0 must be resilient. VulcanForms is unique because it serves all industries, which has allowed us to learn and share faster with our customers. Partnerships that win embrace physical AI and leverage lessons from commercial industries. Our north star is to bridge the digital and physical worlds.”
