Titomic Limited, based in Brisbane, Australia, has announced the launch of its Augmented Reality (AR) software suite for the D523 portable cold spray Additive Manufacturing machine. This is said to mark the first application of AR technology in cold spray AM.

The D523 cold spray Additive Manufacturing machine is used in aerospace, defence, manufacturing, and oil & gas industries for its ability to repair metal components without the risk of thermal damage. The AR Suite, developed in collaboration with a technology partner, utilises Microsoft HoloLens to deliver real-time data, including temperature, system settings, and optimal nozzle range for specific repairs. This enables operators to perform precise, efficient, and repeatable repairs with full traceability of maintenance records for regulatory compliance.

The AR Suite optimises repair processes and supports standardisation through pre-set parameters for common repair tasks like wheel and landing gear maintenance. This feature is intended to enhance product safety and operational efficiency, making it particularly valuable for Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) operations.

The AR Suite will be an optional add-on for the D523 machine, complementing Titomic’s established offerings, including coatings, repair services, and recurring powder sales.
