Schmelzmetall adds capability for beryllium copper Additive Manufacturing

Schmelzmetall AG, Gurtnellen, Switzerland, has announced the installation of a Nikon SLM Solutions SLM280 Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB) Additive Manufacturing machine. The machine is intended to allow Schmelzmetall to use its beryllium copper powder to produce aerospace components, as well as parts for injection molds, electronic components and other applications using in its beryllium-free alloys HOVADUR CNCS (K220) and HOVADUR CCZ (K150).
Since 1959, Schmelzmetall has been a manufacturer of copper-based high-performance alloys. Its HOVADUR powder for Additive Manufacturing is available in a range of different cuts.
