The European Powder Metallurgy Association (EPMA) has announced that registration has opened for its two-day HIP Seminar, scheduled to take place March 7-8, 2023, in Dresden, Germany. The seminar will focus on the future of HIP from as both a stand-alone process and a post-processing technology suitable for manufacturing techniques such as Additive Manufacturing.

As a process for near-net shape forming, HIP is suitable for special applications such as nuclear power plant components and off-shore usage in oil & gas industry. The latest global energy crises seems to indicate the necessity for the further development of HIP in that direction, particularly for the design and production of critical components in the energy industry. As a post-processing technology, the EPMA has stated that HIP is becoming a perfect solution to one of the main problems with Additive Manufacturing: the limited mechanical properties and anisotropy of additively manufactured parts.

Hosted by Fraunhofer IFAM, the event will provide a platform for networking, presentations from key areas, and culminating in a chance to tour the Fraunhofer IFAM facilities. In addition to presentations from industry experts, interactive sessions focusing on the evolution of HIP will also take place.

Details oft HIP Seminar 2023 – including a provisional programme with the speakers and titles of the presentations, access information and advice on accommodation – are available here.

The registration deadline is 21st February, 2023.
