Polema sees metal powder production increase of 20% in 2021

Polema, a division of Industrial Metallurgical Holding (IMH), headquartered in Moscow, Russia, reports that it increased its metal powder production by more than 20% in 2021. Its production volume amounted to 768.4 tons, some 21% higher than in 2020.

The main growth was reported to come from atomised metal powders, chromium products as well as molybdenum parts. The production and sale of powder materials for Additive Manufacturing and Metal Injection Moulding (MIM) doubled compared to 2020 and amounted to 27 tons.

Polema is a leading manufacturer of chromium, molybdenum, tungsten products, metal powders and composite materials. Application fields of materials for multi-functional vacuum coatings, characteristics of sputtering targets and evaporable sources used for technologies of physical deposition of hardening, protective, decorative and light-reflecting coatings, resistive, switching and transparent electro conductive films.

Additionally, the company supplied approximately 5,000 bimetallic tungsten-copper plates for the International Experimental Thermonuclear Reactor ITER.

“Polema showed positive results in terms of production and sales in 2021,” stated Aleksei Lapynin, Commercial Director of Polema. “One of the most successful areas was the production of AM powders. Among the buyers are engine building enterprises, AM service centres, leading Russian universities. Some of Polema’s AM materials have also been successfully certified by a few foreign customers, which confirms their high quality.”
