Phillips Corp boosts AM portfolio with the addition of Markforged’s Digital Forge

February 26, 2021

The Phillips Corporation, Hanover, Maryland, USA, a solutions provider for both subtractive and Additive Manufacturing products and services to commercial and federal government markets, has announced that it will distribute Digital Forge, the AI-powered AM platform created by Markforged, Watertown, Massachusetts. The addition will strengthen Phillips’ AM portfolio, which includes metal and polymer Powder Bed Fusion (PBF), Directed Energy Deposition (DED), and cold spray systems.

Digital Forge combines AM machines with metal and composite materials with cloud-based learning software, said to allow manufacturers create strong, flexible supply chains. The platform creates end-use parts and gains intelligence from each manufacture, resulting in cost and time savings compared to traditional solutions.

“Partnering with Phillips Corporation provides Markforged with additional distribution across the Americas and Asia, while giving Phillips’ commercial and federal government customers more tools to help them reinvent manufacturing and run more efficiently,” stated Shai Terem, CEO at Markforged. “With Markforged, Phillips Corporation customers can harness the power of additive to do everything from optimising their supply chains by producing parts on demand to truly transforming their businesses.”

Blue chip customers in aerospace, military & defence, industrial automation, space exploration, healthcare and automotive industries are among the users of Digital Forge for critical parts on-demand at the point of need. Phillips believes that through this deal, its customers will be offered exponential growth potential.

“Phillips Corporation is extremely pleased to be joining forces with Markforged and introducing their products to our large base of commercial and federal government customers,” commented Alan M Phillips, Phillips CEO. “We intend to pursue the tremendous potential for our subtractive customers to be introduced to the Markforged price-competitive design-to-print additive technology.”

“Considering that both the commercial and federal industrial supply chains have accelerating interest, applications, and demand for 3D printed parts, the Markforged product lineup is an optimal fit for customers seeking to enter or expand upon their Additive Manufacturing capability,” he continued.

“This is a very exciting time in the rapid evolution of Additive Manufacturing. We are pleased to be collaborating with Markforged and together being leading contributors to the global Additive Manufacturing revolution.”
