Messe München has announced the launch of the ceramitec conference, a new event in the ceramitec series to be held at Messe München, Munich, Germany, September 19–20, 2019. The focus of the event will be on the industrial use of ceramic materials, and it will also include sessions covering Powder Metallurgy and Additive Manufacturing.

Ceramitec is an international ceramics trade fair held every three years in Munich, with the most recent exhibition taking place in April 2018 attended by 15,000 visitors. By creating the ceramitec conference, the organisers aim to shorten the time between the trade fairs.

Today, the ceramic industry is highly innovative due to new manufacturing processes and changed raw material qualities. According to the organisers, shorter innovation cycles make ceramics increasingly attractive for a great number of industrial uses in the automotive and chemical industries, electrical engineering, the health sector, biotechnology, aerospace, mechanical engineering, the pharmaceutical industry, and in the world of design.

Key technologies discussed on the conference programme will include:

  • Additive Manufacturing
  • Powder Metallurgy
  • Technical ceramics
  • Raw materials
  • Refractory metals

The conference programme will be set up in a ‘matrix format’ which will reportedly allow attendees to compile their own individual programme, tailored to their requirements. A number of keynote sessions, more than fifteen technical lectures and over sixty speakers are currently expected.

“While having an age-old tradition, ceramics offer an enormous innovation potential. Thus, the materials find their way into a growing number of application fields and industries,” commented Gerhard Gerritzen, Member of the Board of Management of Messe München.

“Therefore, we provide orientation by the creation of the new ceramitec conference as an addition to our trade shows,” he continued. “At our events, users learn which contribution ceramics and the associated new manufacturing processes can make to coping with the present and future challenges they are faced with.”

Call for papers

A call for papers is currently open for the ceramitec conference. Abstract submissions in English will be accepted until March 7, 2019. Businesses, research institutes and start-ups in Additive Manufacturing, Powder Metallurgy, technical ceramics, fine ceramics, raw materials and refractories are encouraged to submit their latest ceramic applications.
