Merendi Alfio & C, based in Lugo, Italy, produces a range of mechanical components for the automotive, packaging, medical, energy and hydraulic sectors. Having based its business around CNC turning and milling solutions for over 40 years, the company has now added an SLM 280 2.0 metal Additive Manufacturing machine from Nikon SLM Solutions.

By adopting Additive Manufacturing, Merendi is expected to diversify its production capabilities and tap into new markets with growing demand for complex, lightweight, and durable components.

Merendi reportedly selected the SLM 280 2.0 due to its ability to rapidly switch materials, produce highly accurate parts with tight tolerances, and integrate into traditional machining workflows.
