Merendi Alfio & C, based in Lugo, Italy, produces a range of mechanical components for the automotive, packaging, medical, energy and hydraulic sectors. Having based its business around CNC turning and milling solutions for over 40 years, the company has now added an SLM 280 2.0 metal Additive Manufacturing machine from Nikon SLM Solutions.
By adopting Additive Manufacturing, Merendi is expected to diversify its production capabilities and tap into new markets with growing demand for complex, lightweight, and durable components.
Merendi reportedly selected the SLM 280 2.0 due to its ability to rapidly switch materials, produce highly accurate parts with tight tolerances, and integrate into traditional machining workflows.
“Our passion for mechanical innovation has driven us to invest in 3D metal printing technology,” stated Luca Merendi, Operations Manager at Merendi Alfio & C. “Partnering with Nikon SLM Solutions allows us to combine our extensive machining experience with cutting-edge Additive Manufacturing, creating a unique capability for our customers.”
Sam O’Leary, CEO at Nikon SLM Solutions, shared, “We are delighted to partner with Merendi Alfio & C as they embrace Additive Manufacturing. Their dedication to innovation, paired with our technology, will unlock new possibilities for complex component production across industries.”
