Liebherr-Aerospace expands AM capacity with RenAM 500Q

Liebherr-Aerospace, headquartered in Toulouse, France, has added a new Renishaw RenAM 500Q metal Additive Manufacturing machine at its facility in Campsas, France.
The RenAM 500Q is a Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB) machine with four 500 W lasers that can address the entire powder bed. It includes automatic powder recycling and a patented vacuum atmosphere preparation enabling builds of up to 150 cm³/hour.
The company states that this machine, with its multi-laser capabilities and enhanced ergonomics, has further increased productivity and improved operator interventions.

Liebherr-Aerospace has been using AM since 2010, and over the year’s has made significant investments evaluating and testing the technology. Its facility in Campsas specialises in nickel-based and aluminium alloys for air management systems, such as heat transfer equipment, valves and turbomachinery. The facility in Lindenberg, Germany, conducts R&D activities with AM-manufactured titanium components for landing gear, flight controls and hydraulic systems.
