ICD Group expands into Additive Manufacturing sector with ICD Applied Technologies

March 1, 2021

The ICD Group, an international conglomerate dealing in manufacturing, trading, and distribution of specialised commodity products, headquartered in New York City, USA, has entered into the Additive Manufacturing sphere with its newest subsidiary: ICD Applied Technologies Ltd. The new facility is located at the group’s ICD Europe site in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, UK.

The new company is seen as a complement to the group’s other business units; ICD Alloys & Metals, ICD America, ICD Europe, and UMC Corporation. ICD will utilise its alloy and metal knowledge, leveraging its raw materials used in Powder Metallurgy as the basis of its Additive Manufacturing business.

Alexandre Leviant, CEO of the ICD Group, commented, “Expanding alongside a team with 100 years of combined cutting-edge experience is the ethos around ICD’s mission of providing solutions to meet the evolving needs of technology.”

The focus of ICD Applied Technologies will be developing technology which offers manufacturers the ability to produce near-net shape metal components for high-integrity, demanding applications. This business aims to develop novel, flexible methods for producing complex components that are typically cast, wrought or machined.

“I am proud to be part of a new venture for the ICD Group,” stated John Schofield, Managing Director of ICD Applied Technologies. “The establishment of ICD Applied Technologies demonstrates the dynamic forward-thinking nature of the ICD Group, expanding the business into complex and demanding product manufacturing sectors. The ICD family is a group of dedicated, successful, and supportive individuals that encompass and nurture an environment that breeds entrepreneurial innovation. I feel great pride to be part of the ICD future journey and a part of a great company.”
