Grenzebach to showcase Additive Manufacturing automation at IMTS 2026
Grenzebach Additive Solutions, based in Hamlar, Germany, will make its first appearance at IMTS 2026 in Chicago, September 14–19, where it will present a manufacturer-independent approach to automating and integrating Additive Manufacturing production.
The approach is intended to connect AM machines and process steps from different manufacturers, including post-processing and material flow, within a single production environment. Grenzebach will exhibit in the South Building, Level 3, Booth 338364.
According to Grenzebach, scaling AM for industrial production requires coordination between AM production, post-processing and material flow, rather than the automation of individual process steps.
From individual automation solutions to an end-to-end approach
Building on its existing automation solutions for powder-based metal and polymer AM, Grenzebach is extending its offering across the post-processing environment. The company will provide complete solutions tailored to customer production requirements, assume overall project responsibility and act as the central point of contact for integrating individual process steps.

Manufacturer-independent from AM to post-processing
The offering covers loading and unloading, transport, depowdering, buffer and storage solutions, and support removal. Grenzebach combines its own post-processing machines and automation solutions with existing equipment from other manufacturers, using software and interfaces to provide connectivity between individual machines.
Existing AM machines can be integrated alongside new equipment. If a customer does not yet have an AM machine, one can also be included in the overall project as required.
Grenzebach states that the starting point is the customer’s production task rather than a specific machine. The aim is to create a scalable production environment, up to fully automated production, that can increase throughput, shorten process times and reduce unit costs. Integrated automated processes can also support consistent and traceable part quality.
IMTS debut focused on industrial users
Grenzebach is targeting manufacturers seeking to industrialise Additive Manufacturing or expand existing capacity. The company describes its first appearance at IMTS as a step towards reaching industrial users in the North American market, including companies outside the traditional AM community.
At IMTS, Grenzebach will use an interactive application to demonstrate an integrated production environment. Visitors will be able to virtually explore individual solutions and see how they are connected.
