Freemelt receives machine order from Korea Institute of Materials Science for aerospace development

Freemelt AB, based in Mölndal, Sweden, has received a machine order from the Korea Institute of Materials Science (KIMS) for the delivery of a Freemelt ONE. The machine will be used for material process development of titanium aluminides, various superalloys, and high-entropy alloys for industrial applications in the aerospace industry. It is expected to be delivered in the second quarter of 2025.

Seong Woong Kim, Principal Researcher at KIMS, shared, “This versatile and powerful system is expected to contribute significantly to both academic research and industrial innovation, delivering outstanding results in the development of next-generation high-temperature materials.”
South Korea has one of the highest adoption rates of Additive Manufacturing, and this order marks Freemelt’s first machine order in the Asian market. The company already collaborates with a customer in Singapore to validate its Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-EB) technology to produce tungsten components.
