ChoiceSpine LLC, a medical device company based in Knoxville, Tennessee, USA, owned by Altus Capital Partners, has launched a significant extension of its established TigerShark Lateral Interbody System line. This line incorporates the company’s proprietary BioBond porous trabecular structure, which uses Additive Manufacturing to create distinct submicron, micro, and macro interconnected architecture intended to optimise surface contact, load sharing and potential osseointegration.

Building on the TigerShark Lateral Interbody System product line, the expanded implant size portfolio was developed in close collaboration with Stuart D Kinsella, MD, MSTR of The Steadman Clinic. The expansion features additional incremental heights intended to offer more precise intervertebral reconstruction, thereby suiting a wider range of patient anatomies and clinical needs.

“This line extension reflects a meaningful step forward in tailoring spine surgery to each individual patient,” stated Kinsella “We now have more personalised tools to achieve our surgical goals that can match the patient’s unique spinal profile.”

Stephen Ainsworth, PhD, ChoiceSpine’s co-president, added, “By working closely with our surgeon partners, we continue to design solutions that more precisely address the real-world variability in patient anatomy. This collaboration ensures that our technology evolves in step with the clinical challenges and opportunities faced in modern spine surgery.”

The TigerShark Lateral Interbody features three lordotic options for each interbody footprint – 0°, 6°, and 12° – as well as large central openings and deep perimeter cuts intended to maximise the volume for bone graft material placement. ChoiceSpine also noted that its system provides excellent visibility under fluoroscopy.
