BFW India enters metal AM market with appointment of Ashok Varma

Bharat Fritz Werner India (BFW), a machine tool manufacturer headquartered in Bangalore, Karnataka, India, reports that it is entering the metal Additive Manufacturing industry following the appointment of Ashok H Varma as its executive vice president and Global Leader for AM initiatives.

Varma has over thirty-five years of experience and leadership in advanced manufacturing technologies, including CNC machines, real-time in-process monitoring and cutting-edge Additive Manufacturing technologies and their applications. He specialises in large format metal AM using Directed Energy Deposition (DED) hybrid systems in sectors including space technology, aviation, defence, oil and gas, energy, tooling, and other industries. Varma is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India, and the University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA.
