Additive Assurance expands into Japan with X
Additive Assurance, Melbourne, Australia, a provider of quality assurance solutions for metal Additive Manufacturing, has entered a domestic distribution agreement with NTT DATA XAM Technologies Corp (XAM) to introduce its AMiRIS real-time quality assurance solution to the Japanese market.
Through the agreement, XAM will distribute and support AMiRIS in Japan, with the companies aiming to address quality assurance and production challenges associated with metal Powder Bed Fusion (PBF).
As the adoption of metal Additive Manufacturing has increased across the aerospace, automotive and medical sectors, applications have expanded from prototyping to production. According to the companies, this shift has created new challenges, including build-to-build variation, quality assurance requirements and the need for improved traceability.
To support manufacturers moving towards production, there is growing demand for technologies capable of monitoring builds in real time. Additive Assurance states that its partnership with XAM combines its monitoring technology with XAM’s experience in the Japanese metal Additive Manufacturing market.
Local support and integration
Under the agreement, XAM will provide sales, implementation support and technical maintenance for AMiRIS in Japan. The company also intends to integrate the solution with its existing metal Additive Manufacturing portfolio, including EOS and AMCM systems.
The companies state that customers will be able to use build data generated by AMiRIS to support more stable production processes and wider digital transformation initiatives.

Established in 2020 through a spin-off of the AM business division of NTT DATA Engineering Systems (NDES), NTT DATA XAM Technologies Corporation is a provider of Additive Manufacturing solutions. From 1993, NDES has been a distributor of EOS Additive Manufacturing machines in Japan.
XAM provides sales and maintenance of AM hardware and software, technical support for mass-produced goods, and contract manufacturing services, with a mission to integrate AI and IT throughout the entire AM value chain to realise industrialised AM processes.
