MAPP (Manufacturing using Advanced Powder Processes), the EPSRC Future Manufacturing Hub led by the University of Sheffield, has extended the abstract submission deadline for its second international conference which will take place at Milton Hill House, Abingdon, Oxford, UK, on June 1–2, 2020.

The new abstract submissions deadline is February 14, and abstracts are invited on the following topics:

  • Right first time manufacturing

The attention here is on delivering defect-free and fit for purpose components by being able to accommodate variability through real-time process control

  • From in-process monitoring and control to in-service prediction and performance

Research here concerns moving from ‘form on-demand’ (right first time) to ‘performance-on-demand’ with in-situ control of microstructure and properties. Prediction of component performance in subsequent manufacturing steps and in-service is a major focus

  • Enhanced product performance

This theme involves manipulation of processes and materials to provide enhanced product performance, e.g. complex hierarchical structures, ‘alloys by design’, development of low value starting materials, new process for materials which are currently challenging to process and moving towards zero waste manufacture

The organisers have also extended the deadline for discounted early bird registration for the two-day event. The new deadline is February 28.

In addition to the conference sessions, the event will include a conference dinner, a pre-dinner reception and an evening drinks reception, the latter of which is sponsored by Metal AM magazine.

Further information and registration details are available via the event website.
