LTS Maskin AS, a machine and equipment supplier based in Lonevåg, Norway, has signed a dealer agreement with Spanish Additive Manufacturing company Meltio, reports Norwegian manufacturing magazine Maskinregisteret.

Meltio offers wire-based Directed Energy Deposition (DED) AM technology that can be mounted on the vast majority of CNC mills. This allows a normal CNC mill to be converted into a hybrid machine with Additive Manufacturing and milling.

LTS Maskin has ordered a Meltio DED unit and plans to install it on a Colchester VL-1000 CNC milling machine. As a result, LTS Maskin is reportedly the first to transform a Colchester milling machine into a hybrid machine.

According to Ruben Solberg, the General Manager of LTS Maskin AS, the plan is to have it up and running by August-September, ready for when customers are invited to the company’s open day in October.

It was stated that LTS Maskin will have a main focus on CNC integration, but can also offer a robot motor head and stand-alone cabinet for Meltio machines.

“Meltio’s M450 and M600 machines make 3D printing very accessible to both large and small companies,” concluded Solberg.
