Kennametal marks 35 years of R&D at its Quinten C McKenna Technology Center

Kennametal, based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, has celebrated the 35th Anniversary of the Quinten C. McKenna Technology Center in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. The centre is named after Kennametal’s former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
The company describes the Technology Center as its global centre of excellence for research, development and engineering.
Kennametal, founded in 1938, specialises in metal cutting tools, tungsten carbide components, wear-resistant materials, and infrastructure solutions.

As reported last month, the company has recently launched KAF82, a tungsten carbide grade developed for the Additive Manufacturing of custom hole-finishing tools. Kennametal describes KAF82 as the first fully dense Additive Manufacturing tungsten carbide grade of its kind to be commercialised at scale.
Kennametal also uses Binder Jetting (BJT) technology to produce wear-resistant components for industrial applications.
