Eplus3D, Hangzhou, China, has announced a partnership with Hofmann CNC, Gräfenberg, Germany, to combine metal Additive Manufacturing with precision CNC machining. As part of the collaboration, Hofmann CNC has invested in a dual-laser EP-M300 machine for metal Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB), supporting the development of local manufacturing and application capabilities in Germany.

The investment extends Hofmann CNC’s existing precision machining capabilities, enabling the company to combine additive and subtractive manufacturing processes within a more integrated production workflow. Metal AM offers flexibility in producing complex geometries and application-specific components, while CNC machining can provide precision post-processing and finishing. The combination allows Hofmann CNC to select manufacturing processes according to individual project requirements, expanding the range of technologies available to its customers.

BLT Inside The World’s Largest Metal Additive Manufacturing Parts Production Operation

As part of the partnership, Hofmann CNC is developing a dedicated application centre where existing and prospective customers can experience Eplus3D’s metal Additive Manufacturing technology first-hand and assess its suitability for their applications. The facility is also intended to support closer cooperation between the companies and their customers in Europe, including application evaluation, technology selection and the integration of metal AM into existing production workflows. The companies also highlight efficiency and sustainability as priorities for the collaboration.

Nuclear Fusion’s Manufacturing Challenge Where Metal Additive Manufacturing Can Make The Difference

Medical manufacturing is another focus of the collaboration. Building on Hofmann CNC’s experience in the sector, the companies are exploring how metal Additive Manufacturing and precision machining can be combined to support the production of complex, customised metal components and the development of medical applications. They are also identifying opportunities in other manufacturing sectors.

For Eplus3D, the partnership forms part of its efforts to expand its presence in Germany and establish closer relationships with local manufacturers.
