Phase3D introduces next-generation Fringe Inspection hardware for PBF-LB

Phase3D, Chicago, Illinois, has introduced the next generation of its Fringe Inspection hardware, featuring a custom projector adapted specifically for Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB) and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) integration.
At the heart of the product is a customised projector designed to meet the demands of PBF-LB inspection. An integrated industrial PC (IPC), graphics processing unit (GPU), and memory provide onboard computing capabilities, along with internal storage. An aluminium enclosure with passive cooling completes a design that brings projection, processing, and storage together in one purpose-built package.

Fringe Inspection features M12 connectors for camera data, power, local and machine networks, and inputs and outputs, as well as four hardware trigger channels that accept 5–24 V signals. There are also additional options for software triggering and hands-off triggering using distance and light sensors.
The product also uses structured light to measure the build surface during Additive Manufacturing, producing quantitative, layer-by-layer height data.

“This is the result of years of development focused on what comes next for Additive Manufacturing,” said Dr Niall O’Dowd, Founder and CEO of Phase3D. “We have built a product specifically for PBF-LB, with the computing and connectivity to support OEM integration from the outset. We want manufacturers to know that Phase3D is preparing to scale with them.”
