AltForm to launch modular DED cells at Formnext 2026

AltForm, the Italian manufacturer of metal Additive Manufacturing machines formerly known as Prima Additive, will present new modular Directed Energy Deposition (DED) cells at Formnext 2026, taking place November 17–20 in Frankfurt, Germany.
The new machines expand the company’s Zenit range and will be available in three configurations. The Zenit L has a 2 x 2 m work area and one robot, while the Zenit XL increases the work area to 4 x 2 m and incorporates two robots. The robots can operate simultaneously on the same part or independently on separate parts.

The Zenit XXL has a 4 x 4 m work area and four robots, which can work together on a single component or independently on up to four parts. Additional modules can be added after installation to increase the size and capacity of the cell.
An optional inert chamber enables the machines to process reactive materials, including titanium and aluminium alloys for aerospace and defence applications, among others.
AltForm will also exhibit two Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB) machines, both equipped with a new human-machine interface (HMI) incorporating an AI assistant intended to support machine operation and production workflows.

The Print Brilliance 400 has a 420 x 420 x 450 mm build volume and four lasers and is intended for higher-volume production and automated manufacturing.
The Print Sharp 200 is a single-laser machine with a Ø 200 x 200 mm build volume. It uses the same HMI as the Print Brilliance 400 and offers an open-parameter configuration for users developing materials and process parameters, such as research centres.
AltForm also plans to introduce new software developments at Formnext 2026. The company will exhibit in Hall 12.0, Booth E139.
