Precera acquires Additive Metal Services assets
Precera Medical, a contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) headquartered in Big Lake, Minnesota, USA, has acquired the assets and business of Additive Metal Services, LLC (AMS), a Port Huron, Michigan-based provider of Metal Injection Molding (MIM) and sinter-based Additive Manufacturing (AM).
Precera serves medical device OEMs and innovators, producing high-precision components and assemblies for applications including surgical robotics, minimally invasive surgery, orthopaedics and interventional therapies. The company operates four manufacturing sites – two in Minnesota and two in France – and is a portfolio company of SK Capital Partners.
The acquisition adds AMS’s MIM and sinter-based AM capabilities to Precera’s existing capabilities in design and process development, rapid prototyping, precision multi-axis and Swiss machining, micro-feature machining, automation and finished device assembly. Precera stated that the combined capabilities will support manufacturing process selection and projects spanning early-stage development and design for manufacturability through validation and scaled commercial production.
“This is the first strategic acquisition for Precera as we continue building a new era of precision manufacturing,” stated Dylan Hushka, CEO of Precera Medical. “By bringing together decades of MIM experience and specialised equipment with Precera’s capabilities in precision machining and automation, we are creating a scalable solution for critical components such as robotic surgery end effectors and distal components for interventional catheter-based devices with the tolerances, quality and process control these applications demand.”
Precera has also invested in production equipment and infrastructure at its Minnesota operations to expand its MIM capabilities for scaled programmes requiring an automated MIM process with finished machining. The company stated that the process is particularly suited to products with complex geometries and tight tolerances.

Precera Medical was launched as a new platform by SK Capital in November 2025. The company stated that it will continue to seek strategic acquisitions that add manufacturing capabilities to support medical device OEMs in advanced areas of medical device technology.
