Oerlikon, headquartered in Pfäffikon, Switzerland, has reported increased orders and sales in the first half of 2026, supported by growth in aviation, power generation and general industries, as well as higher prices for critical minerals.

For the first half, order intake increased 19% year-on-year to CHF 920 million and sales rose 6.7% to CHF 790 million, both at constant exchange rates. Operational EBITDA increased to CHF 156 million, representing a margin of 19.7%, compared with 16.7% in H1 2025.

The company stated that growth in orders and sales was supported by higher volumes and increased critical mineral prices, although weaker automotive activity partially offset this performance.

Oerlikon’s Materials & Equipment segment, which includes the production of coating systems, related aftermarket services and advanced materials, recorded particularly strong growth during the period.

Sales in the segment reached CHF 265 million, up from CHF 238 million in H1 2025, representing organic growth of 19.7%. Order intake increased to CHF 387 million from CHF 279 million.

According to Oerlikon, orders remained strong as customers continued to secure supplies of certain critical minerals amid trade tensions and higher raw material prices. Sales growth was primarily driven by materials, while the equipment business continued to secure orders.

Operational EBITDA for Materials & Equipment increased to CHF 66 million, compared with CHF 43 million in the first half of 2025.

Following the completion of the divestment of its Barmag business in February 2026, Oerlikon introduced a new reporting structure comprising three segments: Coating Services, Materials & Equipment and Components.

Oerlikon has also raised its full-year outlook, with sales now expected to increase by a mid-single-digit percentage at constant exchange rates. The company expects an operational EBITDA margin of 18.5–19.5%, assuming tungsten and yttrium prices remain broadly stable at current levels.
