Everyday Metallurgy builds YouTube audience for metallurgy and Powder Metallurgy content

Everyday Metallurgy, the YouTube channel and video podcast created by Danish metallurgist Peter Kjeldsteen, is nearing 14,000 subscribers as it continues to build an audience for in-depth discussions on metallurgy, materials science and manufacturing. Its coverage includes metal powders and Powder Metallurgy, Metal Injection Moulding and Additive Manufacturing technologies.
Kjeldsteen launched Everyday Metallurgy in 2023 with the aim of making metallurgy more accessible and encouraging engagement with materials science and engineering. He has around thirty years of experience in Powder Metallurgy and has previously served on the boards of the European Powder Metallurgy Association and the Danish Metallurgical Society.

Among the channel’s most-viewed episodes is a discussion with Stefan Joens, President of Elnik Systems, which has attracted more than 22,000 views. The episode covers Metal Injection Moulding, debinding and sintering, furnace technology, process control, and the relationship between MIM and newer sinter-based Additive Manufacturing technologies.
Metal powder production and processing are recurring subjects. Guests have included Dr Paul Davies of Wall Colmonoy, who discussed metal powder production, powder quality and manufacturing challenges; and John Barnes of Metal Powder Works, who discussed the company’s mechanical production route for aluminium, copper, titanium and zirconium powders, including powders for Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion.
Other Powder Metallurgy-related episodes have covered high-entropy alloys with Prof José Manuel Torralba; microwave sintering and plasma processing with Marilena Radoiu; hardmetal powder recycling with VTT researcher Hannu Penttilä; and Spark Plasma Sintering and cryogenic milling with Christopher Melnyk of California Nanotechnologies.
The channel also covers subjects beyond powder-based technologies, including zirconium alloys for nuclear applications, magnetocaloric materials, corrosion, heat treatment, recycling and conventional metalworking.
