Metal Powder Works names Ahmed El Desouky COO to drive growth
Metal Powder Works Limited (MPW), headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, has announced the appointment of Dr Ahmed El Desouky as Chief Operating Officer. The appointment marks MPW’s move into the next phase of production scale-up, customer qualification and commercial growth across its metal powder and Additive Manufacturing machines.
Dr El Desouky holds a PhD in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and is a highly experienced metallurgist with fifteen years of operations and advanced manufacturing leadership. His appointment is intended to bring public-company operating discipline and technical credibility in powder-based and Additive Manufacturing to MPW at a pivotal point in the company’s growth.
Dr El Desouky joins MPW from Veeco Instruments Inc, where he most recently served as Director of Operations – New Product Introduction, leading operations, quality, supply chain and programme management for Veeco’s largest active development programme. His track record of building operating systems from the ground up, including previously establishing and scaling Veeco’s Additive Manufacturing function, from a two-person effort into a production-capable organisation, is directly applicable to MPW’s scale-up of powder production capacity and its progression of customer and programme qualifications.
The MPW Board stated that Dr El Desouky’s appointment as Chief Operating Officer will accelerate MPW’s transition from qualification to commercial-scale production, with a focus on scaling manufacturing capacity, improving production yield across the powder portfolio, and building the supply chain and operational infrastructure required to support growing customer demand.
