RM Forum 2026 to showcase Additive Manufacturing in Milan

RM Forum is scheduled to return to the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese, Milan, for its 14th edition, on September 23–24, 2026. Organised by RPD – Rapid Prototyping Development and PlastDesign, RM Forum is intended to bring together end users, system manufacturers, material suppliers, software companies, research centres, universities and professionals contributing to the development of Additive Manufacturing across industrial sectors.

RM Forum provides a platform for discussion between those who develop technologies and those who use them every day in production. Over the two-day event, application case studies, industrial experiences and innovation projects will demonstrate how Additive Manufacturing is transforming production processes in sectors including:
- Aerospace
- Automotive and Motorsport
- Medical
- Energy
- Advanced Mechanical Engineering
- Design and Industrial Products
The scientific programme will feature companies, end users, universities and research centres sharing practical experience, results and future development perspectives. Aldo Rotta, Scientific Director of RM Forum and Editorial Director of RPD – Rapid Prototyping Development and PlastDesign, will be presenting the scientific direction of the 2026 edition, “Additive Manufacturing is entering a new phase: it is no longer simply a technology for prototyping or experimentation, but an industrial tool capable of influencing production processes, product design and business models. RM Forum was created precisely to connect expertise, technologies and real-world applications, fostering direct dialogue between industry, research and end users.”

The Guest Speaker programme will include:
- Raffaele Pugliese (Ortopedia Castagna SrL) – The Geometry of Regeneration – How computational design and AM are personalising orthopaedic devices.
- Mario Russo (University of Modena and Reggio Emilia) – Beyond Sustainable Design – Comparative LCA (Life Cycle Assessment): conventional manufacturing vs. AM in automotive components.
- Alberto Maggioni (Sauber Technologies AG) – Printing Performance – The disruptive impact of 3D printing in redefining aerodynamic engineering and performance.
- Christian Conigliaro (Valeo) – Serial Production with AM – A critical and quantitative analysis: when does additive manufacturing for serial production truly become cost-effective?
- Francesco Trevisan (Wärtsilä) – Industrialization in Marine & Energy – Implementing AM in the industrial production of combustion engines.
The discussion will also be enriched by contributions from academia, with the participation of the Politecnico di Milano, represented by Professor Maurizio Vedani, and the Politecnico di Torino, represented by Professor Manuela Galati, who will share their expertise in applied research, materials innovation, advanced manufacturing processes and the development of the skills required for the future of manufacturing.
Alongside the conference sessions, an Exhibition Area dedicated to sponsors will allow visitors to meet directly with the technical and commercial representatives of the companies. There will also be the opportunity to schedule meetings before the event, enabling participants to organise their agenda in advance and meet the companies of greatest interest during the conference.
