Eplus3D’s EP-M3050 offers build area exceeding 3 m

Eplus3D’s EP-M3050 is a large-format metal Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB) Additive Manufacturing machine featuring a standard build envelope of 3,050 × 3,050 mm, with a configurable build height of up to 5,000 mm. The AM machine is intended to enable the production of large metal components as single builds, reducing the need to manufacture and assemble multiple smaller parts.

The EP-M3050 is available with square or cylindrical (Ø3,050 mm) build chambers, with an optional ring-shaped configuration intended to improve material utilisation for components such as casings and ring-shaped structures.
The machine is based on a multi-laser architecture, with a standard configuration of 100 lasers. Eplus3D states that the platform is scalable to as many as 256 lasers and can achieve a theoretical build rate of up to 3,500 cm³/h under typical process conditions.
The company stated that increasing the build size required the development of systems capable of maintaining stable airflow across the enlarged build chamber while managing fume extraction, spatter control and optical cleanliness throughout extended build cycles. It added that coordinated scan strategies, path planning and real-time process control have also been developed to support consistent part quality across the full build area.

The EP-M3050 is aimed at applications requiring large integrated metal components, including those in the aerospace, aviation, energy, oil and gas, machinery and industrial manufacturing sectors.
To demonstrate the machine’s capabilities, Eplus3D showcased the production of a 2.8 m casing manufactured as a single component on the EP-M3050.

The EP-M3050 builds on the company’s existing portfolio of large-format metal PBF-LB machines. Eplus3D stated that it has sold more than 100 AM machines in its one-metre-class platforms, including the EP-M1250, EP-M1550 and EP-M2050, and more than 200 machines with at least one build axis exceeding one metre.
The company also stated that it has the capability to develop custom metal AM machines with build volumes of up to 5 × 10 × 5 m.
