In a partnership with BASF Forward AM, Zortrax, based in Olsztyn, Poland, has introduced metal Additive Manufacturing via its Zortrax Endureal industrial Additive Manufacturing machine. The machine is now compatible with stainless steel 316L surgical-grade and precipitation hardened 17-4 PH.

To process metal on the Zortrax Endureal, users can purchase a Zortrax Full Metal Package containing either 316L or 17-4PH. These kits contain everything necessary to modify an existing Zortrax Endureal, including filament spools, support filaments, pro metal glue, hotend module and a post-processing voucher (valid for 1000 g metal parts).

The Zortrax Endureal AM machine features a dual-extrusion system which is reputed to have proven itself in additively manufacturing high-performance components for demanding applications, including space flight. Dimensional accuracy is said to be ensured by the heated build chamber with fully controllable temperature. The standard Endureal nozzles are made of a kind of industrial bronze that is resistant to abrasion.

Zortrax make both the AM machine and the slicing software, and includes multiple features such as autoscaling and metal-specific infill type in its Z-suite software.
