Sandvik acquires Additive Manufacturing equipment and CAM reseller Cimquest

Sandvik AB, headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, has acquired Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) solutions reseller Cimquest, based in Branchburg, New Jersey, USA. Cimquest will be a part of Sandvik’s business unit Mastercam and will be reported within the business area Sandvik Manufacturing and Machining Solutions.

Since 1990, Cimquest been a reseller of Mastercam, a provider of CAD/CAM software solutions for manufacturing industries owned by Sandvik. Cimquest also sells metal Additive Manufacturing machines from Desktop Metal, Meltio and Xact Metal as well as solutions for polymer AM.

Cimquest has 55 employees and in 2023, the company had revenues of around $26 million. It was stated that the impact on Sandvik’s EBITA margin will be limited, and the impact on earnings per share will be positive.

“The acquisition of Cimquest is another step in our strategic direction to grow in the digital manufacturing space, and an important investment in Mastercam’s channels. This will strengthen our presence within CAM, expand our ability to serve customers and improve our growth platform going forward,” commented Stefan Widing, president and CEO of Sandvik.
