QuesTek to release Niobium Suite for ICMD platform

QuesTek Innovations LLC, Evanston, Illinois, USA, has announced the upcoming release of its Niobium Suite within the ICMD Materials Design and Engineering Platform. The new capability builds on a series of successful client engagements involving niobium-containing materials, including collaboration with CBMM.

The Niobium Suite expands ICMD’s capabilities by incorporating advanced models and data specific to niobium-based alloy systems. This is intended to allow engineers and materials scientists to more efficiently evaluate performance trade-offs, predict behaviour in extreme environments, and design materials tailored to specific applications, reducing development timelines and reliance on expensive trial-and-error experimentation.
Niobium plays a critical role in enhancing strength, durability and high-temperature performance in advanced materials. The introduction of the Niobium Suite is intended to enable customers to develop new applications and optimise existing systems across industries including aerospace, energy, automotive, and Additive Manufacturing. Collaboration with CBMM has further accelerated the practical deployment of niobium-enabled materials across industries.
By leveraging ICMD, organisations can rapidly simulate how niobium-based materials influence microstructure and performance, enabling faster iteration and more confident decision-making early in the development process. The company claims that this capability is particularly valuable for industries facing increasing demands for efficiency and performance under extreme conditions.

QuesTek has successfully applied its Materials by Design technology and ICMD software to optimise niobium-containing systems, demonstrating measurable improvements in both performance and development speed.
QuesTek has worked with CBMM to further expand understanding of niobium’s role as an addition in advanced materials (e.g. nickel-based superalloys) as well as working with ARPA-E, DARPA and other industry partners to develop Nb-based alloys for extreme environments to enable next-generation space, aerospace, and energy applications.
Bill Mahoney, Chief Operating Officer, QuesTek Innovations, shared, “The Niobium Suite reflects QuesTek’s commitment to helping customers solve complex materials challenges faster and more predictably. By enabling better decisions earlier in development, we’re helping organisations reduce risk, shorten development cycles, and bring advanced materials to market more efficiently.”
