New ISO/ASTM standard for PBF-LB in aerospace

A new standard has been published by ASTM International committee F42 and ISO TC261 which provides the AM industry with qualification requirements for Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB) in aerospace applications:

  • ISO/ASTM 52941 – Additive Manufacturing – System performance and reliability – Acceptance tests for laser metal powder-bed fusion machines for metallic materials for aerospace application

Developed under ASTM Subcommittee F42.07, Additive Manufacturing Technologies Applications, this standard improves the ability for AM components to be qualified for civil, commercial, and military aircraft, as well as space propulsion, payload, and manned space flight.
