Nano-Purification Solutions, Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, a manufacturer of compressed air and gas solutions, is offering a range of nitrogen gas generators for use in applications that include metal Additive Manufacturing. The company’s GEN2 nitrogen generators use regular compressed air to deliver a continuous supply of high purity nitrogen, said to offer a cost-effective and reliable alternative to the use of cylinder or liquid nitrogen.

Nitrogen is used in many commercial and industrial applications to improve the quality of a product or process or as a safety measure to prevent combustion. In metal AM it can be used to provide an inert atmosphere, with the nano GEN2 nitrogen gas generators said to provide a wide range of flow rates and purities from 95% to 99.999%.

The gas generator allows companies to produce as much or as little nitrogen as needed, reportedly at a fraction of the cost of having the gas delivered by an external supplier. Nano stated that the financial investment in its GEN2 can expect to be paid back within 6 to 24 months.

A multi-bank design also enables additional generators to be added as demand increases, offering scalable nitrogen gas generation.
