Metal machining and machine tool assembly solutions provider Meiraku Corporation, based in Nagoya, Japan, has acquired a LAMDA2000 hybrid Additive and subtractive Manufacturing machine from Nidec Machine Tool, Shiga. Installation is scheduled for completion in February 2025.

The LAMDA2000 features a 2,000 x 1,500 x 1,000 mm build envelope and will enable Meiraku to produce complex components with intricate surfaces without the need for a separate machine with an inert chamber.

Equipped with full five-axis subtractive machining and metal Additive Manufacturing capabilities, the machine incorporates a local shield nozzle and real-time monitoring feedback functions in an effort to ensure high-quality, stable metal builds. The compact head design allows users easy access to the nozzle and workpiece.

Nidec Machine Tool launched the LAMDA Series in 2019. Since its early iteration, the company has developed a second-generation shield nozzle, launched the LAMDA500 five-axis machine, introduced a gantry-type direct-action mechanism with the LAMDA5000, and integrated an AI-based layer-checking function.
