Liebherr-Aerospace Lindenberg GmbH, Germany, part of the Liebherr Group with headquarters in Switzerland, has announced that Airbus has selected the company to supply the lower cargo door actuator and valve for the A350. The complex valve will be produced by Liebherr using metal Additive Manufacturing.

Liebherr-Aerospace Lindenberg, the group’s centre of competence for flight control systems, landing gears, gears, gearboxes, and electronics, is reported to be collaborating intensively with Airbus in the development of AM components.

The company began the serial production of AM parts in early 2019, when it successfully certified and delivered an additively manufactured proximity sensor bracket for the A350 nose landing gear. Together, Airbus and Liebherr are now launching the more complex valve for the cargo door actuator system in the same aircraft.

Liebherr-Aerospace is reported to be on board all Airbus commercial aircraft programmes.
