Kristin Mulherin named president of Women in 3D Printing
December 13, 2021
Global nonprofit organisation Women in 3D Printing (Wi3DP) has named Kristen Mulherin as its new president. Founder Nora Touré will be stepping into the role of chairwoman of the Wi3DP Board of Directors, remaining involved in the leadership of the group.
Touré began Wi3DP in 2014 as a blog dedicated to interviews with women in the Additive Manufacturing industry. In the interim years, the group has become a global community with over 23,000 members of various genders, coming together in eighty local chapters across thirty-six countries.
“Now is a time when we need to think about the next steps for our organisation as our team has grown and our programmes have evolved,” stated Touré. “Kristin, as one of our first ambassadors and a board director for two plus years, has shown tremendous talent and appetite for structuring Wi3DP into a sustainable and scalable organisation. I am looking forward to witnessing the work she’ll be achieving in the president’s capacity.”
Kristin Mulherin has held leadership positions across various AM disciplines at companies including HP and Dyndrite, in addition to founding consultancy company AM-Cubed. As well as her roles as ambassador and chairwoman, Mulherin also heads sponsorship opportunities and sits on the executive committee of the TIPE 3D Printing by Wi3DP conference.
“Nora has created a global organisation that has seen explosive growth in recent years,” Mulherin added. “Along with the rest of the executive team, I look forward to supporting the men and women of this community, increasing our partnerships across both additive and traditional manufacturing, and providing the support to further develop our initiatives, such as the NextGen and DEI [Diversity, Equity, Inclusion] programmes. I have grown tremendously with this community, both personally and professionally, and I’m honoured to be taking over the presidency.”
