Hannover Messe 2024 to highlight All Electric Society and renewable energy

The upcoming Hannover Messe, scheduled to take place April 22-26, 2024, will include a number of highlights and collaborations aimed at addressing the pressing topics affecting today’s society. The lead theme of this year’s event, ‘Energising a Sustainable Industry,’ brings together exhibiting companies from the mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and digital industries as well as the energy sector to present solutions for future production methods and the energy supply.
Key topics will include Industry 4.0/Manufacturing-X, Energy for Industry, Digitisation/Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Carbon-neutral Production, and Hydrogen and Fuel Cells. The programme is complemented by a series of conferences and forums.
All Electric Society
The concept of the All Electric Society will be highlighted for the first time and on a large scale with its own arena. This will be organised by ZVEI – German Electro and Digital Industry Association together with exhibitors.
Gunther Koschnick, Head of Industry at ZVEI, shared, “The aim of the All Electric Society Arena is to discuss the possibilities of an energy supply largely based on renewable energies, and to put them into practice.”
Within a diverse programme of presentations, industry experts, scientists, and politicians it is intended to shed light on how the future will be increasingly electric. In addition to being an integral part of the daily themed guided tours, the arena is directly connected to the ZVEI stand located in the middle of Hall 11, stand B58.
“The ZVEI target image of the All Electric Society represents the industry’s contribution to achieving the agreed climate targets,” Koschnick continued. “Direct electrification of technologies and processes, as well as sector coupling and intelligent storage technologies such as hydrogen and power-to-X, will play an important role in this process. Hannover Messe is therefore well positioned to adopt the All Electric Society as the energy efficiency scenario for a carbon-neutral industrial society.”
A carbon-neutral industry is an ideal framework for all initiatives related to this year’s main theme, ‘Energizing a Sustainable Industry.’ According to Hubertus von Monschaw, Global Director Trade Fair and Product Management Hannover Messe at Deutsche Messe, the All Electric Society Arena will demonstrate how the industry can contribute to achieving climate goals.
The All Electric Society Arena at Hannover Messe is supported by DKE Eaton, Finder, Harting, Pepperl + Fuchs, Phoenix Contact, Rittal, Schneider Electric, Siemens, Wöhner and Deutsche Messe.
Renewable Dialogue – North Sea Energy Hub
The event will also premiere the ‘Renewable Dialogue – North Sea Energy Hub’ conference, which looks to bring together representatives from Norway, Hannover Messe’s partner country, and Germany to discuss challenges and solutions for a sustainable transformation as well as the opportunities it presents.
“Renewable energies reduce the carbon footprint, while green technologies open up new business fields,” shared Basilios Triantafillos, Global Director Trade Fair and Product Management Hannover Messe at Deutsche Messe AG. “The first edition of the Renewable Dialogue focuses on the political and business relationships between Norway and Germany in the field of renewable energies. The aim is to highlight the potential for cooperation between Norwegian and German companies and to discuss pioneering technological solutions. Their implementation, along with the creation of the necessary political framework, makes a significant contribution to global emissions reduction.”
The conference programme consists of two blocks. In the morning, Norwegian and German ministers exchange views on political conditions and cooperation opportunities. After the lunch break, energy industry professionals and executives will discuss topics such as ‘Potentials of renewable energies in the North Sea and neighbouring states’, ‘The contribution of hydrogen to European climate goals’, ‘Opportunities and risks of CCS/CCU (Carbon Management)’, and ‘Sustainable financing – an enabler of a new energy system.’
The ‘Renewable Dialogue – North Sea Energy Hub’ is an initiative of the State of Lower Saxony and Germany’s Ministry for Economy and Climate Protection in cooperation with Deutsche Messe. The topics ‘Energy for Industry’, ‘Carbon-neutral Production’, and ‘Hydrogen & Fuel Cells’ are three of the five trend topics of y and Climate Protection in cooperation with Deutsche Messe. They will be presented and discussed in April 2024 both on the conference stages and at exhibitor booths.
Partner country Norway
Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre will speak at the official Hannover Messe 2024 opening ceremony on April 21. On April 22, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will join Støre to open Norway’s national pavilion and commence the traditional tour of the exhibition halls.
Jan Christian Vestre, Norway’s Minister of Trade and Industry, and Terje Aasland, Norway’s Minister of Energy, will also participate in the event. On 22 April, Vestre will speak at the EU conference ‘Investing in European Industry’, organised by the European Commission. On April 23, Aasland will join Germany’s vice chancellor Robert Habeck to open the conference’s ‘Renewable Dialog – North Sea Energy Hub.’ Both Norwegian ministers will also visit exhibiting companies from Norway as well as from other countries.
Under the theme ‘Pioneering the Green Industrial Transition’, exhibitors at the Norway Pavilion in Hall 12 will present products and solutions ranging from batteries, carbon capture and storage, and energy systems to artificial intelligence, Industry 4.0 and materials technology. Exhibitors at the Norway Pavilion in Hall 13 demonstrate safe solutions for hydrogen generation, transport, storage and distribution. The Norway Pavilion in Hall 12 will also feature a daily stage programme that focuses on topics such as clean energy, green data centres, industrial transformation and offshore wind.
