April 24, 2024
Freemelt AB, based in Mölndal, Sweden, has received the first eMELT-iD order in the Americas from a university aiming to accelerate Additive Manufacturing as a manufacturing technology for serial production of industrial metal applications. The total order value is approximately $600,000 (MSEK 6.6), with expected delivery in Q2 2024.
The eMELT-iD is an Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-EB) Additive Manufacturing machine based on Freemelt’s proven open-source technology. The AM machine is designed for industrial application development, reducing the time to market and the related cost of new applications for full-scale production via Additive Manufacturing.
“We have strengthened our American organisation and intensified sales and marketing activities which we now see results from,” stated Daniel Gidlund, Freemelt CEO. “This order represents a significant breakthrough and a critical milestone in our commercial journey, as our university customers in the U.S. are the foundation of our industrial expansion in North America. Together with our customers, we take another important step in establishing eMELT and E-PBF (Electron Powder Bed Fusion) as a leading technology for innovative and efficient serial production of industrial applications.”
Freemelt has an established customer base in north America for the research machine Freemelt ONE with eight machines installed at universities and research institutes. This eMELT-iD order is the first industrial machine from Freemelt on the American market, aiming to facilitate application and product development, paving the way for serial production of high-demand metal applications within the American industry.
