Continuum Powders, headquartered in Houston, Texas, USA, has issued an overview of its performance in 2024 and provided an outlook for 2025. In a recent post, Continuum’s CEO Rob Higby stated that 2024 had been a transformative year for Continuum Powders, a year defined by innovation, collaboration, and sustainability.

The biggest undertaking of the year was Continuum’s move into its new low-carbon global headquarters and state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. “With net-zero carbon energy partners and low-emission gas systems, the Houston facility has the lowest carbon footprint of any metal powder production site globally,” Higby explained.

Higby also noted the facility’s increased production capacity, which will allow the company to ship orders faster. At the end of December 2024, Higby reported that two major powder shipments left the Houston facility. “These shipments weren’t just packages of powder; they represented the culmination of a year spent pushing the boundaries of advanced manufacturing. They reflect partnerships with industry leaders who are fundamentally rethinking their production methods, moving away from traditional casting and forging toward cleaner, more efficient processes like Binder Jetting and laser-based Additive Manufacturing,” he stated.

Throughout 2024, Continuum worked to support customers adopting Additive Manufacturing. “Take the adoption of OptiPowder M247, a high-temperature superalloy powder,” wrote Higby. “One major partner is using this material to reimagine how critical parts are made for industrial gas turbines. By switching to Binder Jetting, they’ve taken a bold step to eliminate castings and forgings altogether: dramatically streamlining production while maintaining the highest performance standards.”

Higby’s post also points out that customers in industries such as aerospace and energy use Continuum’s Ni718 and M247 powders.

In line with sustainability initiatives, Continuum began turning end-of-life components into powders ready for reuse using its M2P process in 2024.

2025

Going into 2025, Continuum intends to expand key partnerships, with planned shipments of M247, Ni718, Ti64 and other high-performance alloys growing to meet increased demands. Higby also referenced plans to explore opportunities in high-temperature and hypersonic alloys.
