APMI International has released a Powder Metallurgy self-study course, providing a broad introduction to the fundamentals of Powder Metallurgy for career development. From the course, it is intended that a student will gain an understanding of basic science and engineering as it relates to PM. Practical applications of metal and alloy behaviour, various manufacturing processes and management objectives will be explored.

Those targeted for this course include mechanical engineers and technologists; mechanical, industrial, manufacturing, process and aerospace engineers; quality assurance engineers and technicians; and management and overseers of PM organisations.

The course is presented by Professor Randall German and contains thirty pre-recorded videos, averaging sixty minutes each, that can be consumed at a student-set pace within six months after purchase. Within eighteen months of beginning the course, each student will have the opportunity to sit for the Powder Metallurgy Technologist Certification (PMT) free of charge.

Further information – including registration fees and a full course outline – is available via the APMI’s website.
