Ampower, based in Hamburg, Germany, and Nikon Corporation, headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, have announced they will partner to offer a comprehensive training programme built around Nikon’s Additive Manufacturing solutions. This strategic collaboration will provide engineers an opportunity to gain a broad and deep understanding of the technology, with the first online course focusing on Nikon’s Lasermeister 100A Series, a Directed Energy Deposition (DED) Additive Manufacturing machine. Additional e-learning modules are set to be developed in 2024.

“At Ampower, we see a transformative power in AM, and we are excited to work with Nikon to enable engineers to fully harness the capabilities of their AM solutions,” shared Matthias Schmidt-Lehr, Managing Partner of Ampower.

Hiroyuki Nagasaka, Department Manager of the Development Department in the Advanced Manufacturing Business Unit of Nikon, added, “The newly designed training programme which has been developed by Ampower, will provide engineers with the necessary knowledge, skills, and insights they need to leverage Nikon’s AM technologies effectively.”

The inaugural e-learning course will provide an extensive curriculum that covers all aspects of Nikon’s Lasermeister 100A Series technology. Participating engineers will learn about the complexities of AM technology, materials, design considerations, process optimisation, and applications across various industries.

Both Ampower and Nikon stand to gain considerably from this partnership. It is believed that Ampower’s extensive knowledge in AM will combine with Nikon’s technical expertise to foster innovation, strengthen engineering capabilities, and drive the adoption of AM solutions across various industries.
