AML3D Limited, Edinburgh, Australia, reports that it has received an additional purchase agreement, valued at AUD $140,000, to develop and produce high-strength aluminium key components using metal Additive Manufacturing for The Boeing Company, based in St Louis, Missouri, USA.
The company will use its proprietary Wire Additive Manufacturing (WAM®) process, also known as Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM), a wire-based form of Directed Energy Deposition (DED), to produce the structural components typically used for structural ‘fly’ components, and will undergo an intensive testing programme that is said to be comparative to the requirements of AS9100D quality assurance.
Andrew Sales, AML3D’s Managing Director, commented, “AML3D is excited to continue working with Boeing, and cementing our relationship with one of the world’s largest aerospace companies through our proprietary WAM process. This purchase contract is a major step in our journey and will provide the Company further opportunity to now validate and produce parts on time and to specification for a high-quality Tier 1 customer, which is further endorsement of the adoption of our proprietary WAM 3D printed solutions and core to our strategy for the company in the coming years.”
