Admatec Europe BV and ECN, both based in the Netherlands, will present the Admetalflex metal 3D printer at the Additive Manufacturing User Group conference in Chicago, USA, March 19-23, 2017.  The new Additive Manufacturing machine is said to produce metal components with high-quality material properties and, when compared to industry standards, low-surface roughness values, fine features and no residual stresses.

The Admetalflex metal 3D printer, produced by Admatec, will be showcased at AMUG 2017

As a part of the company’s Admaflex series,  the machine’s operating principles originate from a Digital Light Processing (DLP) based technology that involves a filled photosensitive resin  combined with a debinding and sintering process.

Admatec and ECN have previously demonstrated a good understanding of the Powder Metallurgy market, having achieved success with their previous ceramic 3D printer. The launch of the new metal AM machine is said to serve a demand in the market for relatively small-sized, high-precise, high-performing printed metal components. The system can print components that are currently manufactured by such traditional shaping technologies as CNC machining or Metal Injection Moulding (MIM).

“With this product, Admatec is underlining its strong cooperation with ECN and the dedication to push the Admaflex technology to more applications and broader market acceptance. Pulling off this task will strengthen Admatec’s market position as a leading Additive Manufacturing brand,” stated Michiel de Bruijcker, Managing Director of Admatec.

Jaco Saurwalt, Director of the Engineering & Materials department at ECN, added, “High material quality combined with form freedom and fine product details were the goal of our development. By improving both the process as well as the machine the current Admatec ceramics printing technology has been extended to high-density metals.”
