BEAMIT and MTU to additively manufacture titanium parts for aviation engines

The BEAMIT Group, Fornovo di Taro, Italy, and MTU Aero Engines, Munich, Germany, have announced a collaboration to additively manufacture Ti-6Al-4V components for the aviation industry. By combining BEAMIT’s experience in metal Additive Manufacturing with MTU’s engineering and design capabilities, the two companies aim to deliver high-performance components that are lighter, more durable, and more efficient than their counterparts.

“We are excited to collaborate with MTU Aero Engines, a global leader in the aerospace industry, to push the boundaries of what’s possible with additive manufacturing,” stated Mauro Antolotti, president and CEO of BEAMIT Spa. “Our teams will work closely together to design and manufacture titanium components that meet the rigorous quality and performance standards required for aerospace applications.”

The use of titanium in Additive Manufacturing has become increasingly popular in the aerospace industry, as it offers superior strength and durability compared to traditional manufacturing methods. The collaboration between BEAMIT and MTU will focus on developing Ti components that are large enough to meet the needs of the aviation industry, whilst maintaining the same level of quality and performance.
